Quick Details
Public Martha’s Vineyard Sunset Cruise
A sunset boat cruise around Edgartown Harbor aboard the luxury motor luxury passenger vessel, Plan Sea. Bring your food and drink and relax while listening to the expert local guide and cruising past beautiful residences, yachts, and natural scenic vistas. Reserve by the seat – a great option for a couple, small groups, and individuals.
Arrive at Memorial Wharf, 53 Dock St, Edgartown (Harbor) 10 minutes before to scheduled departure. Plan Sea arrives at the dock 5 – 10 minutes before any departure.
The deckhand welcomes you aboard and helps stow your carry-ons. Then, the Captain tells you about the safety features, including the Man Overboard procedure and other important information.
The first half of the cruise in Martha’s Vineyard is very slow cruising through the calm harbor. This is a good time to break out the food and drinks! The expert crew provides fun facts, gossip, and tall tales while we pass by exclusive private clubs, private residences of the rich and famous (find out who owns some of the houses along the harbor), an alien landing strip, and other amazing sights
As we enter Katama Bay, you hear about why Chappaquiddick is translated as, “Sometimes an Island” … and why today’s engineers should understand the local geography as well as learn how the famous Katama Bay oysters are farmed and the unusual life cycle and migration patterns of the local ospreys.
Secure the food before we leave the harbor, then we pass the Edgartown lighthouse and enter Nantucket Sound, where the kids now get a chance to pilot the boat if they’d like! See the Poge Point Lighthouse on Chappaquiddick while the sun sets over the Vineyard – this sunset cruise is a fan-favorite in Martha’s Vineyard. Plan Sea returns to the Memorial Wharf Dock in time for dinner at one of the great restaurants in the area.
Check the online schedule since times for our public Martha’s Vineyard sunset cruise vary according to sunset times. Around 6 – 6:30 p.m. departure with a return after sunset around 8 – 8:30 p.m. Reserve a seat on the Shared Edgartown Sunset Cruise. Departs Tuesday and Sunday evenings from Memorial Wharf in Edgartown Harbor.
We reserve the right to cancel the cruise for a full refund 10 hours or more prior to departure if fewer than six reservations are held.
