Gotta Have a PLAN SEA

Captain Dave has grown up on boats of all kinds. He’s raced sailboats, delivered yachts up and down the East Coast and captained boats of all kinds. He is happiest when he’s on the water sharing his passion for boating and the sea. Every summer, Captain Dave sees thousands of people visit the Cape and Islands, put their cars on the ferry and drive around. They rent a house or hotel room, go to the beach, go shopping, visit restaurants, but they are missing the BEST Martha’s Vineyard attraction! Most visitors do not have a plan to tour the area from the water. The reason Captain Dave named the boat PLAN SEA is to encourage visitors to include a PLAN for cruising at SEA in their vacation lineup. There is nothing like seeing and learning about the area’s history, marine…

Originally a research vessel from from the College of the Atlantic in Bar Harbor, Maine, Captain Dave has spent the last six months completely retrofitting the vessel to be a luxury downeast lobster yacht. The cabin, the pilot-house, the head (bathroom) have all been expertly remodeled with teak and mahogany trim and custom Sunbrella cushions outfit the cabin’s furniture. Plan Sea is a gorgeous and truly unique vessel around the Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket and we hope you visit…

Cruising Next to the Charles W Morgan While Under Sail

This was an awesome, once in a lifetime experience! New England has a rich whaling history. Moby Dick, the captains’ houses in Edgartown, the harbors which must have had tens of whaling ships moored out during the heyday of whaling in the 1800’s. The towns along our coast were the oil boom towns of their…

Plan Sea Adventure Charters does indeed offer private boat transportation to Nantucket and other destinations including: Martha’s Vineyard, Cape Cod (Falmouth area), Cuttyhunk and other destinations. These boat trips are completely customized for your group and schedule. Now that the direct ferry service from Martha’s Vineyard to Nantucket has ended, the only way to make a day trip to Nantucket is by hiring a boat or plane. Personally, I’ve never taken a plane over, but I’m sure it’s fast and I definitely would like someday to take the bi-plane over and do some loops and other aerobatics on the way over. This is a description of what you can expect if you decide to hire of boat for transportation to Nantucket. Plan Sea often transports groups of 6 or less between Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard for the day. Typically we…

Boating with a Baby

I received this great question from KS in Ireland today: Hi there, we are looking for a charter somewhere between 3rd and 5th July.  We’re not sure what we are looking for as we have a little girl who will be 22 months at the time, so it would have to be something to suit…

Girl’s Weekend Boat Trip

These good friends have known each other since grade school and were on the Vineyard to celebrate their birthdays and have a girl’s weekend boat trip. After we departed the Edgartown docks we cruised for about 30 minutes to a seal colony off Chappaquiddick(Chappy). We saw about 90 grey seals hunting in the shallows and…

Cape Cod to Martha’s Vineyard Boat Trip

This family gave Dad a birthday gift of a Cape Cod to Martha’s Vineyard boat trip. First there was a quick cruise from Cape Cod to Oak Bluffs. The boat trip across Vineyard Sound took about 30 minutes. The family disembarked for a brief tour of the Camp Meeting cottages in Oak Bluffs. Edgartown was next after a scenic cruise down the North coast of Martha’s Vineyard. The family enjoyed some power-shopping and a delicious lunch at Among the Flowers. What a great way to spend your birthday.

Boat Trip Martha’s Vineyard to Nantucket

Picked up this wonderful family in Martha’s Vineyard. We cruised over to Nantucket Harbor where I dropped them off for a visit to the Whaling Museum, shopping and lunch. On the way back, Dad enjoyed taking the helm and driving the boat back to Martha’s Vineyard over flat seas at 30MPH. They enjoyed the convenience…
